I WORKED FOR A NEWSPAPER. I HAD TO BECOME A JACK OF ALL TRADES

To stay in the newspaper business for as long as I did, you needed to continuously reinvent yourself and expand your skill set. You had to continue to make yourself valuable. Journalism, advertising and marketing — I’ve done them all. If there’s a new visual need, you just fill it and then learn to do it well.

“Jack of all trades, master of none.”

I know the phrase infers the ability to do many things — just not great. Two things about that; I always wore it as a badge of honor. And I never, for a minute, believed the second part. Browse through my website and decide for yourself. If you need something you don’t see here, just let me know. I’ll learn to do it 😉

COMMERCIAL WEBSITES

When my children were young, our lives were consumed with dance lessons, recitals, and travel hockey games. I started early versions of these three websites to design and sell t-shirts and gifts through print-on-demand vendors. It’s been where I’ve honed my skills in everything from SEO to HTML and CSS, to advertising and promoting on social media. I still enjoy the artistic freedom and challenge of the business today.
